With more than 25 years of investment banking experience, Mr. Metwally has been appointed by NI Capital’s Board to lead NI Capital as its Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Metwally will be taking over the transformation of the company’s business strategy in line with the Government’s vision and its new business model of having a publicly owned company privately managed by leading expertise.
Prior to joining NI Capital, Mr. Metwally held the position of Deputy CEO at HC Securities & Investment since 2012. Before that he was the Managing Director & CEO of Siraj Finance, a mortgage finance company based in Abu Dhabi. Mr. Metwally had previously held the positions of the Regional Head of Middle East Investment Banking at Salomon Brothers (London), and subsequently Merrill Lynch based (London), and Standard Chartered Bank and HSBC based in Dubai. Mr. Metwally’s investment banking transaction experience spans a wide range of sectors and products including M&A advisory, equity and debt capital markets transactions, and leveraged finance. Mr. Metwally started his career on Wall Street as a real estate equity research analyst at Salomon Brothers New York.
He also held other positions including Senior Financial Advisor to the Minister of Finance of Egypt through the USAID where he focused on direct investments made by the National Investment Bank and the efforts of the Ministry of Finance to develop the mortgage finance business, Adjunct Professor of Finance at Cal State University, Long Beach California, and Managing Director of Orbel, a private investment company in USA, and CEO of LAM Consulting a private advisory firm in the UAE.
Mr. Metwally earned his MBA at Columbia Business School, New York (USA) where he was awarded the Merit Fellowship, and later received Executive Leadership training at INSEAD (France) and London Business School (United Kingdom.)
Prior to joining the investment banking industry, Mr. Metwally was a Registered Architect in the State of New York (1985-1993.) He holds a BA in Architecture from Pratt Institute (New York) and BSc in Architectural Engineering from Cairo University (Egypt.)
Mr. Metwally is a member on the Board of NI Capital Holding, Ayady for Investment and Development and Damietta Furniture City (DFC). Mr. Metwally had previously served on the Boards of several institutions including Egyptians Abroad Investment Company (ODEN), HC Brokerage Company, HC Investment Bank DIFC, the Advisory Board of Cairo Stock Exchange, Addax Bank, Siraj Finance Company, Alkine Benzene E-LAB company, and Fajr Gas Pipeline Company.
